History of clans Suryavansh 1.Jamwal-It is the ruling clan of Jammu and Kashmir.Jamwal name was taken from the name of Jammu . 2.Mankotia- This is a suryvanshi clan founded by Raja Mankot of Mankot state in Jammu.They claim to be Kachwaha Rajputs , who said to have come from Jaipur and settled in Punjab and Jammu Hills. 3.Jasrotia-It is a suryavanshi clan.This clan was founded by Raja Jasrot who founded Jasrot town. 4.Manhas-It is a suryavanshi clanIt is a sub branch of Jamwal clan therefore they have common ancestry with Jamwal. 5.Charak-Charak is a Surya vanshi clan.This clan was started by of Sojla Dhar brother of Ganga Dhar. 6.Ramgaria-This rajput tribe was started by Ram gupta who constructed Ramgarh fort. 7.Salathia-It is a Suryavanshi clan.This clan was formed by Grand children of Bairam Dev by Hasal dev.It is brother tribe of Sarkhania. 8.Iskhania-This rajput clan was formed by Ghogar dev he fought many battles for Babur and earned title of Isa khan and Iskhania tribe was started. 9.Sarkhania- This is a brother Rajput tribe of Salathia.This tribe was started by Shera. 10.Dalpatia- The brother of Bhupat dev , Dalpat dev started this clan in 1616. 12.Dogra- It is a Suryavanshi clan.This clan is mainly found in Rajputs, Brahmans and Vaishyas. 13.Sambyal- Is is a Suryavanshi Rajput clan.This were said to migrated by Jaipur and ruled the Samba state. 14.Rathore- This a major clan in Suryavansh.The are mainly found in Rajasthan state but some of the Groups from Bikaner and Jodhpur migrated to Jammu. Chandravanshi 1.Bhati- This a Chandravanshi clan.The Rajas of Bhatis ruled Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.This Clan belongs to Yadava Dynasty.Some groups of Bhati Rajputs moved to some places of Jammu. 2.Jarral : It is a Chandravanshi clan.They are descendants of Pandavas of Mahabharat.Since they ruled Rajouri of Jammu after becoming muslims but the hindu Jarrals also moved to Jammu hill region and one of the hindu Jarral Family of Kalanaur ruled the village Ghill.
